From Campus Curiosity to Engineering Impact: Ann Mary Jose’s Equifax Journey

For many graduates, the transition from campus life to the corporate world feels like stepping into the unknown. For Ann Mary Jose, that leap became the beginning of a journey filled with learning, growth, mentorship, and impact at Equifax.

As Ann closed the chapter on university life, she joined Equifax through the company’s Early Careers hiring program. Like many fresh graduates, she entered with excitement, curiosity, and a fair share of uncertainty. “The first few months were definitely a steep learning curve,” she reflects. “I was the sole fresher SRE on a brand-new team handling a project, so I had to find my footing quickly.”

But what initially felt overwhelming soon transformed into an opportunity to grow. From navigating real-world engineering challenges to understanding the scale at which Equifax operates, every experience pushed her closer to discovering where she truly belonged.

Today, Ann Mary actively works in critical platform engineering operations and contributes to integrating Agentic SDLC practices — helping shape the future of how software is built, deployed, and secured.

When campus placements ended, Ann Mary had multiple offers on the table. Yet, Equifax stood out immediately. “I wanted to start my career somewhere established, impactful, and trustworthy,” she says. “Learning about the scale of data and technology at Equifax made me realize the kind of impact I could make here.”

For her, it wasn’t just about landing a job — it was about finding a place where she could build a meaningful career from day one.

The Transition from Campus to Corporate

The jump from college projects to working at a global fintech organization can be intimidating. Ann Mary admits the transition initially felt overwhelming, but what made the difference was the support system around her. “The people truly made all the difference,” she shares. “From hands-on guidance by leaders to icebreaking sessions with fellow early career hires, the support helped make the transition seamless.” 

That sense of belonging helped her quickly evolve from a fresher finding her rhythm to someone confidently contributing to large-scale engineering initiatives.

The Power of Mentorship

Ask Ann Mary about the support she received at Equifax, and one word comes up immediately: exceptional. She credits her managers, mentors, and teammates for creating an environment where learning was encouraged and questions were welcomed. “They didn’t just teach me processes — they encouraged me to understand the ‘why’ behind everything,” she explains. 

That mentorship eventually inspired her to give back. Recently, she conducted sessions for newer Early Career Program graduates, creating a full-circle moment in her journey.

Advice to Future Early Career Hires

For students preparing to take their first step into the corporate world, Ann Mary keeps her advice simple: “Be patient with yourself. Stay curious, keep asking ‘why,’ and never stop learning.” 

She believes the shift from campus to corporate life may feel challenging initially, but with grit, openness, and a willingness to grow, it becomes one of the most rewarding phases of life. And for Ann Mary Jose, that journey is only getting started.
