The human side of AI: Carolina Escobar talks empathy, efficiency, art

Carolina Escobar

At Equifax, shared values like “Do the right thing,” “Grow and innovate,” and “Live our best” often ripple into the personal lives of Equifax employees in profound ways. Carolina Escobar, a Project Manager for the LATAM Product Team, embodies this idea. She’s embracing AI 4 EFX, an approach that provides tools and training to help the workforce spend less time on routine items and more time on the complex, creative, and collaborative challenges that drive innovation – and their careers – forward. In her daily life, she’s also using AI to enhance her creative hobbies and in her fight for a more inclusive community for her son.

“I feel so fortunate to be given all of these tools.”

Carolina began her career at Hewlett Packard in customer operations before transitioning to software. She eventually joined Equifax in 2018 on the Transformation team where she learned the "guts of the company" and gained a deep understanding of our customers and products. Thereafter, she worked on the Planning and Execution team and became an expert in analytics and insights, learning to communicate effectively with clients and manage vast amounts of information. In her role as a project manager, she supports projects in Chile and across LATAM.

When reflecting on her time thus far at Equifax, Carolina notes that she never saw cultural differentiators and an employer brand quite like the one here at her previous companies.

Efficiency at Work with AI as a Collaborative Partner

“At Equifax, AI has become an indispensable partner for me. Whether I'm getting an instant summary of my team's workload, merging data tables in seconds, or simply refining my own writing for greater precision, it consistently handles tasks that would have taken hours. This allows our team and me to focus our energy where it matters most: on strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and deeper collaboration.”

Carolina feels incredibly fortunate to operate within such a robust AI ecosystem, describing her access to sophisticated technology and developmental classes as being “like Wizard of Oz.” In this role, she serves as the expert operator behind the scenes (wizard), standardizing the “execution machinery” by centralizing documentation and automating information updates to remove friction for product managers. By managing these complex processes in the background, she ensures operations remain fully auditable and scalable while allowing the team to focus on the magic of product discovery.

Now holding two Google certifications, she channels her love for teaching by giving lessons to colleagues across teams and regions. She even develops custom AI assistants to provide reference materials and streamline the onboarding process for every new team member.

A Mother's Mission Powered by Technology

What sparked Carolina’s interest in using AI outside of work? It started when Equifax provided her with the opportunity to participate in the Google Launchpad for Women 2024 program, where she earned her first Google certificate and recognition for being a top participant. This experience taught her that she could master new technologies and apply them in powerful ways.

“I needed to advocate for my neurodivergent son’s inclusion at school, so I began using an AI research tool on my personal computer to study legal and educational matters. The tool was incredibly effective, saving me a significant amount of time and effort during a difficult period. It helped me navigate a complex situation by answering all of my questions, which I later verified with specialists and lawyers. This felt like absorbing information in a ‘Matrix’ movie style — instant and powerful.

“Armed with my learnings, I joined the parents association at my son’s school to help create the best possible experience for him and for all children who learn differently. It’s become my mission to ensure every child has the support they need to thrive. And I accelerate this mission by applying new structures and tools.”

She also applies AI to reduce frustration in her personal hobbies, such as tufting, knitting, illustrating and painting, which she actively shares and teaches to her children.

Ready to Power Your Possible?

For prospective talent wondering if they would be a good fit, Carolina believes Equifax is a great fit for people who thrive on challenges and possess the courage to chart new courses. It is a space for individuals with the agency to present bold ideas without waiting for a roadmap. She describes the environment as a 'boundless playground' of possibilities—a landscape where you can explore every opportunity, reach your full potential, and find genuine fulfillment in the journey.

To close out her philosophy on tackling these exciting challenges, Carolina shares a guiding principle: “The road to Mordor was not conquered in a single leap, but by the will to take one more step, and then another. So it is with all great tasks; they are mastered not by strength, but by the persistence of daily effort.” (Paraphrasing the journey in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings)
