Beyond the Deal: How Equifax Sales Specialist Adam Roberts Gives Back

Adam Roberts V2

When Adam Roberts moved to Brisbane in late 2022, he was looking for a way to give back and connect with his new local community. Today, as a Sales Specialist at Equifax, Adam does far more than hit commercial targets; he leads a team for Rosies – Friends on the Street.

Through the employee-led charity model at Equifax, Adam hasn't had to keep his personal values separate from his professional life. Instead, his grassroots advocacy helped establish Rosies as one of the official regional charity partners for Equifax in Australia.

Driven by Human Connection

Unlike traditional food drives, Rosies’ mission centres on providing friendship, connection, and a sense of belonging. Outreach sessions start at 7:30 p.m., after traditional meal services have finished, giving patrons a safe, non-judgmental space to connect over a hot drink and a conversation.

"For many of Rosies’ patrons, social isolation is the hardest challenge they face," Adam shares. "Rosies is about offering a warm drink, knowing someone's name, and treating them with basic human dignity. It keeps you grounded and reminds you how close anyone can be to a tough situation."

How Street Outreach Shapes Adam's Sales Approach

For Adam, bringing personal empathy into his sales role isn't just fulfilling, it directly builds stronger, more authentic client relationships. He credits his time on the street with sharpening key professional skills that shape how he works at Equifax:

  • Unconditional Empathy: "You never know what anyone is going through," Adam explains. Listening to diverse life stories on outreach has taught him to approach every client interaction with patience and an open mind.
  • Active & Unbiased Listening: Working with patrons has reinforced for Adam the importance of never judging a book by its cover. A principle he applies daily when building long-term business partnerships.
  • Grounded Perspective: Navigating challenging situations during street outreach keeps workplace pressure in clear focus, allowing Adam to stay calm, resilient, and level-headed under stress.

Championing Community Action Within Equifax

Adam hasn't just volunteered individually; he has actively brought his Equifax colleagues along on the journey. When Rosies needed to move hubs, Adam organized 12 Brisbane teammates to use their volunteer day leave, helping them complete what was supposed to be a two-day move in just four hours.

Adam has also spearheaded internal fundraising initiatives, including "coffee campaigns" and trivia nights where Equifax matched every dollar raised by staff.

"It’s incredible working for a company that actually backs what you care about," says Adam. "Equifax shifted away from generic corporate giving to focus on employee-championed charities like Rosies in QLD, Addi Road in NSW, and Peter Mac in Victoria. Combined with generous leave and flexible working, you get to make a real impact without sacrificing your career."

Bring Your Whole Self to Work

For professionals seeking a workplace where commercial success goes hand-in-hand with genuine community impact, Adam’s story demonstrates what is possible at Equifax. You don't have to leave your personal values at the door when you log on every morning.
