Equifax is where you can power your possible. If you want to achieve your true potential, chart new paths, develop new skills, collaborate with bright minds, and make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you.
Our Data Operations team analyses, investigates and accurately processes the information held on the Equifax UK database, capturing, loading and amending consumer and commercial data to make sure the highest possible standards are maintained. Increasingly, this work is automated or part-automated, where AI and automated rules load incoming data, validate it, flag discrepancies, match records and propose amendments. All of this activity requires supervision and management, and this is where the Human in the Loop (HITL) comes in.
As a Human in the Loop (HITL) Data Operator, you will work as part of a dedicated, successful and focused team, monitoring automated data processing and providing assurance that data is loaded, amended and maintained correctly, in line with the quality models, policies and processes that govern the regulated environment within which we operate. Where data requires intervention, you will perform remedial action, analyse what went wrong, and feed back on the process to continuously improve and evolve the performance of the automation. You'll have the authority to challenge, override or pause automated decisions where you believe the outcome is wrong, and you'll use the appropriate escalation channels for technical obstacles, incident management, data security and individual client or consumer complaints.
We believe great things happen when teams connect. Our schedule is built around 4 days of high-impact, in-office collaboration (Monday–Thursday) , paired with Friday Flexibility to wrap up your week remotely.
What you’ll do
- Supervise the automated and part-automated loading, amendment, maintenance and deletion of consumer and commercial data on Equifax databases, forming your own view from the source data rather than relying on the system's recommendation.
- Intervene, override or pause automated processing where data is being handled incorrectly, such as a record matched to the wrong consumer or an amendment that would compromise data accuracy, and record your reasons each time.
- Load, amend, maintain and delete consumer and commercial data directly where cases fall outside the automation or require manual handling.
- Analyse data information, applying your knowledge, training and support to bring queries to resolution, including those the automation could not resolve.
- Strictly adhere to quality control procedures, carrying out quality sampling of data the automation processed without intervention, and highlight any discrepancies or anomalies as required.
- Act on defined escalation triggers, such as low system confidence, unusual error rates, unexpected changes in submitted data, potential consumer impact or data security concerns, and escalate data issues so that data quality is maintained and not compromised.
- Spot patterns in automation errors (incorrect matching, misread fields, false discrepancy flags, inconsistent amendments) and log them in a structured way so the system can be improved.
- Watch for data issues that could unfairly or inconsistently affect particular groups of consumers, and raise concerns.
- Ensure authentication and permission is valid for submitted data from both closed user groups and data pools, including where this is checked automatically, and assist where necessary with the on-boarding of new clients.
- Liaise with inter-departmental agents, their managers and Technology to progress resolution of issues, support the development of new and improved automated solutions, and demonstrate “as is” or “to be” approaches as required.
- Liaise with internal and external departments or customers in an engaged, professional and pleasant manner, and advise as required on data compliance and legislation.
- Ensure full compliance with data protection requirements and accuracy of input, whether processed by you or by the automation, in line with quality protocols, training and instruction received.
- Manage and receive urgent requests to support your manager in delivering prompt resolutions to escalated issues or complaints.
- Undertake ad-hoc tasks to help improve the integrity of the Equifax databases.
- Assist with the training and development of new team members as required, including sharing what you learn about how the automation performs.
- Maintain system, tool and skills awareness, consistently seeking to develop your knowledge of your own and other team members' core roles.
- Act as an ambassador for the Equifax brand, support our core values and our mission of “helping our consumers live their financial best”, and contribute positively to a productive team culture that delivers both quality and efficiency of service to our customers.
