Semantic Information Architect - Taxonomies, Ontologies

With the growth of Equifax multi-data products and the emergence of new and evolving AI technologies, there is a demand for Information Architecture with Semantic and Taxonomy specialization to connect our products and technology.

This Career level role in the Global Data Office will report to the Head of Enterprise Data Architecture. The Semantic Information Architect - Taxonomies, Ontologies will define and develop Ontologies and Data Taxonomies, contributing to EFX existing architectures. The Semantic Information Architect - Taxonomies, Ontologies will document business capabilities and business processes for the Global Data Organization, working closely with other functions and Business units in a matrixed environment. 

What you will do 

  • Design and document Taxonomies and Ontologies for our existing product architectures. 

  • Responsible for ensuring our data and product ontologies comprehensively describe knowledge graphs that are available for machine learning and AI/Inference ingestion.

  • Collaborating with partners to document business capabilities and business processes, guiding others on improvements and refining where appropriate. 

  • Present and validate use cases, demos and customer scenarios for which covered domain solutions are uniquely suited, highlighting the customer value.

  • Develop moderately complex domain solution proposals, with concise, data-driven, focused key insights and support stakeholders with problem solving and educational materials during negotiations. 

  • Demonstrates the ability to master the knowledge of domain specific solutions, capabilities, and customers - with the ability to address both the issues and value they offer in a verbal and written capacity to stakeholders. 

  • Continuously develop knowledge of the competition and help develop competitive strategies and positioning.

  • Interact with D&A, Product, Tech, Sales, and other BU stakeholders. 

What experience you will need 

  • BS degree in a STEM major or equivalent discipline; Master’s Degree strongly preferred.

  • 5-7 years of business process documentation, digital transformation, analytical or consulting experience or a related role with a focus on Taxonomy design. 

  • Minimum of 1 (one) recent relevant year of experience developing Ontology and/or Taxonomy data models.

  • Familiarity with Semantic Web Technologies, Taxonomies, Ontologies, Knowledge Graphs and Graph Databases. 

  • Familiarity with Semantic Web technologies and standards such as Web Ontology Language (OWL) or Resource Description Framework (RDF) or SPARQL with validation/reasoning standards such as SHAQL.

  • Exposure to Machine Learning (ML) and/or Data Science, including graphs and vector embeddings.

  • Experience working closely with business and analytics teams to understand their needs (e.g., design thinking sessions, business requirements, agile methods, etc.), maintain ongoing engagement through development, rollout, and improvement cycles.

  • Demonstrated experience using influence to tell stories with data and utilizing data visualization tools like Tableau. 


 

What could set you apart  

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Library Science, Linguistics or another related program. 

  • Basic familiarity with advanced technologies: R, Python, Spark, CYPHER, GCP & BigQuery, Cloud Fundamentals, GitHub, and common SDLC processes.

  • Exposure to open-source and/or commercial ontology IDEs such as PoolParty, Protégé, TopQuadrant.

  • Technical Advising / Consulting - Experience modeling entities, relationships, attributes, and abstract data building blocks for a given business case, considering both specific database / physical design as well as the logical and conceptual design required for business use.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with strong attention to detail. 

  • Comfort running meetings and presenting to senior leadership.

  • Cloud certification is strongly preferred.

Equifax has a hybrid work schedule that allows for 2 days of remote work (Monday and Friday), with 3 required onsite days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) every week.

This role will work the required onsite days at our Equifax office in Alpharetta, Georgia.

This position does not offer immigration sponsorship (current or future) including F-1 STEM OPT extension support.
