Manager, Strategy and Market Insights

As Manager, Strategy and Market Insights you will work closely with the leadership team to create a Growth Playbook and focus on strategy development and tracking based on the competitive landscape after conducting market intelligence research and analysis. An ideal candidate is a highly motivated, analytical, research oriented independent thinker who can drive discussions across the organization to build strategy.  This position reports to the Head of Partnerships and Strategy.

What you’ll do

  • Primary responsibility for contributing to the development of vertical/domain strategy based on market research

  • Assist the product and partnership teams with the execution of the vertical/domain strategy

  • Research the Canadian Fintech ecosystem and align Equifax partners and solutions to potential needs

  • Support the Product and Partnership teams with competitive market research and  analysis

  • Identify emerging data and analytical capabilities in the marketplace that would represent potential partnerships or acquisition targets

  • Produce a detailed market report that highlights competitors, competitor market share, M&As impacting Equifax’s customers & partners, other  key findings and recommendations to share with the Strategy and Product team leaders

  • Direct and manage key governance processes including the monthly President’s letter, on-going business reviews, quarterly strategy tracking and the annual strategy playbook process

  • Identify and develop a plan to address horizon 2 and 3 strategic opportunities through strong research and industry expertise

What experience you need

  • 3-5 years experience in strategy development, market research or corporate development

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate recommendations and research findings in writing and orally

  • Experience researching market opportunities and an understanding of SWOT (Strength/Weakness/ Opportunities/Threats)

  • Excellent knowledge of the Canadian financial services industry, with a current understanding of emerging trends with Fintechs, the digital economy and/or consumer-consented data

  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new situations

  • Strong math skills and a working knowledge of financial analysis 

  • Expert knowledge of PowerPoint

  • Bachelor degree in Commerce, Economics or Engineering (Masters/MBA an asset)

  • An understanding of the Canadian financial echo system, staying abreast of emerging market trends,  different types of partnerships and product life cycle

  • Extensive experience in market research and creating detailed SWOT analysis on potential opportunities

  • Working in a highly matrixed organization is a plus.
