Senior Director, Data Privacy

The Sr. Director, Data Privacy will report to the Vice President, Data Privacy, and will provide privacy support and subject matter expertise on privacy, data protection, and data governance issues as they relate to the evaluation of business initiatives, processes, and applications within Equifax. The position will help implement the data privacy and protection program, partnering with Security, Technology, Legal, Data & Analytics, and other stakeholders, and will also have further responsibility for corporate privacy projects.

What You'll Do:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify gaps in privacy implementation across regions and business units

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for corporate data privacy consultations and exceptions

  • Facilitate the privacy impact assessment process

  • Work closely with stakeholders to embed privacy by design principles

  • Adapt privacy controls for the Equifax business practices, identifying control owners and establishing processes to monitor and test control effectiveness

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on data classification consultations and exceptions

  • Research and respond to privacy-related questionnaires and requests for onsite audits

  • Raise privacy awareness and acumen

  • Maintain visibility into corporate privacy issues, including US and international privacy laws and regulations and their impacts on Equifax’s business

What Experience You Need:

  • 5+ years' experience in data privacy, data protection, or data governance experience, or analogous experience, preferably in the financial services industry.

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus on data science, technology, computer science, business, or similar field.

  • 3 years experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA)

  • 2 years experience translating privacy or security regulations into actionable project plans

  • 2 years experience writing policies and standards

  • Experience performing contract reviews

  • Experience working with a global team located outside the United States

  • Knowledge of Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

What Could Set You Apart:

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) -- a plus.

  • Experience in privacy program build or development activities, and implementing privacy controls and/or frameworks and adapting controls per region or jurisdiction.

  • In-depth understanding of privacy policies, principles, and technologies.

  • Experience interpreting privacy regulations and conducting privacy risk assessments, including privacy impact assessments, in diverse operational environments.
