Lead Data Scientist - Innovation & Attributes

Job Summary:
As the Lead Data scientist on the Innovation & Attributes Team, you will be critical to driving Data Science innovation for Equifax Canada, working closely with the rest of the Canadian Equifax Data Science team and the Data Science community internationally.  You will also work closely with business stakeholders to understand their goals and determine how data can be used to achieve those goals. You will support redesigning data modeling processes, creating new algorithms and predictive models to extract the data the business needs, and leading analysis of the data and sharing insights with peers.  You will also coach other Data Scientist team members more early in their career, offering them mentorship and advice to improve their skills.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Build and create advanced machine learning algorithms such as  regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees and neural networks

  • Support redesign of the data science model development lifecycle using the latest techniques and methodologies while inventing and patenting new ones where possible

  • Develop new tools, advanced analytical techniques and products

  • Project management including defining business and technical requirements, resource planning and analytic solution design

  • Work alongside key clients as part of co-innovation projects and effectively communicate analytical results to key stakeholders using strong data visualizations, superior presentation skills and business language to emphasize the “so what” of the analysis

  • Create recommendations, market insights and dashboards following completed analysis and quality control of all analytical output

  • Coach and mentor junior and intermediate data scientists in career development and data science skill-set improvement

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics 

  • 5+ years’ Data Science experience with expert knowledge of R, Python, SAS or SQL in a large data environment and 5+ years’ experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks (including RNNs).

  • End-to-end data science experience from creating models and implementing models in production to supporting launched models by adjusting them based on live results and feedback.

  • Experience with development and deployment of models in a cloud based environment such as AWS or GCP and building models with the best packages including SKLearn, XGBoost, Tensorflow, PyTorch.

  • Proven hands-on experience designing and building analytical solutions to solve real world problems, with limited direct supervision required and creativity & idea generation and the ability to extract business insights from analysis & transform this into an easy to understand story

Extra Points for any of the Following:

  • Master’s level degree in a business-related field/MBA 

  • Experience in working with Credit Data

  • Research / R&D experience, preferable in Data Science 

  • Working knowledge of building models with Spark’s MLLib, Transformers or Caffe

  • Experience working with GPT-1/2/3 or similar open source AI models

  • Background in financial services, telecommunications or utilities favorable
