Bid Manager / Bid Director

As Bid Manager / Bid Director, you will be accountable and have ownership of the end to end bid process, leading strategic bids through the defined bid process, assembling and managing the response team. You'll have the skills, drive & enthusiasm to prepare a winning bid!

You will manage and support all new and re-tender opportunities from qualification through to contract award. You will guide the bid qualification process,  coordinate the pre-bid activity & manage the RFP. You will successfully align the resources to ensure we have the overall structure and governance to meet the client's requirements to provide a compliant and winning bid.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the end-to-end bid process

  • Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from key stakeholders, typically engaging with sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and project management / delivery

  • Work with the Sales lead to develop a clear win strategy for each bid and ensure win themes are clear and compelling

  • Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues

  • Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process

  • Contributing to the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation (such as providing guidance around the executive summary)

  • Manage the bid budget and monitor and report on overall performance against KPIs.

  • Ensure timescales are achieved at each step of the bid process, including all internal governance, while taking the initiative in setting realistic deadlines

  • Ensure on-time submission of compliant and commercially sound bids

  • Coordinate and plan all client presentations required as part of the bid submission

  • Drive continuous improvement, through post-bid reviews, both internally and with customers

Qualifications

  • Degree educated or equivalent experience

  • Extensive and current Bid Management experience; must display  experience in creating compelling proposals for significant public and private sector bids.

  • Demonstrable experience of utilising the Shipley process, or Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP).

  • High level of commercial awareness with the ability to develop bid specific win strategies.

  • Experience of coordinating and updating a knowledge base or library system.

  • Proven ability in delivering winning product or services opportunities. 

  • Background in solution selling and bid management experience from opportunity identification through to project delivery and will provide valuable input into value proposition development, opportunity qualification, win strategy, commercial discussions, and solution delivery.

  • Ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities & have a solid understanding and management of internal governance procedures.
