Compliance Monitoring Director

As our new Compliance Monitoring Director you will ensure alignment of EFX monitoring practices with regulatory expectations. Prepare senior leadership for compliance reviews by identifying monitoring gaps between regulatory requirements and EFX's compliance. Make recommendations to bridge compliance gaps with innovative but pragmatic advice.
 

Manage third party inquiries by serving as the liaison between Equifax and external customers on compliance monitoring gaps.  Scope and manage key strategic initiatives related to compliance with regulatory agencies. Develop project plans, including resource requirements. Identify and address implementation barriers to drive achievement of project deliverables

You will be a key contact point for business stakeholders and will be required to highlight regulatory weakness or non-compliance and to define the action that stakeholders may need to take to remedy that non-compliance. As well as compliance monitoring, the role holder will be expected to support the Compliance & Risk Team by covering other roles from time to time, engage with training and guidance, quality assurance, policy writing and providing regulatory advice.

This role can be based in our London, Leeds or Nottingham offices

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the formal Compliance Monitoring initiatives by carrying out appropriate risk assessments, preparing annual monitoring plans and delivering compliance monitoring to an acceptable regulatory standard
  • Oversee all UK business areas in relation to non-financial FCA and Data Protection compliance and related regulatory issues including conduct risk and professional ethics, challenging as necessary when standards fall below regulatory expectations
  • Work effectively with first and third line colleagues to support holistic three lines of defence coverage of the group
  • Work constructively with senior business stakeholders and their teams to facilitate monitoring activity and timely and effective mitigation of risks/closure of actions
  • Raise conduct and compliance risk awareness and understanding of risk management within the business; work with the Risk Director to bolster the effectiveness of the Enterprise Wide Risk framework, providing inputs and insights from monitoring outputs
  • Support the development, drafting, implementation and maintenance of company-wide manuals, policies, plans & procedures via practical challenge and guidance
  • Verify the implementation of new legislation and initiatives which impact on risk and compliance within the business helping maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and industry rules and best practice
  • In collaboration with senior Compliance Team members, be a day to day point of contact for queries or issues raised by the FCA, ICO or other relevant regulators. 
  • Support the Internal Audit and Risk functions on all matters as determined by the UK Chief Compliance & Risk Officer
  • Provide leadership and supervision and training and development of Compliance & Risk Business Partners and Consultants, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience of leading compliance and risk based monitoring in a financially regulated business
  • Strong experience implementing, managing an continuously improving monitoring frameworks and annual plans  
  • Intermediate experience of internal audit and risk
  • Strong experience of advising  and consulting SLTs
