Quality Engineering Lead

What you’ll do

As a QE lead you will own the quality engineering practice for the segment by building a team of strong Quality Engineers. As the manager of all QE within a segment, you will hire, coach and build a strong team of engineers to meet and maintain the segment’s quality objectives. You would own the test strategy and plan for all squads within the segment and execute on the strategy to assure high levels of quality. 

As a QE Lead you will strive to uplift overall software quality, and drive high levels of automation to support CI/CD. You would monitor, analyze and report on quality patterns among your segment squads and pro-actively track and mitigate risks involved in segment’s deliverables. Being a QE Lead you would be responsible for segment’s test data and contribute to the integrity of test environments. Collaborate and Contribute to the Engineering Guilds (AE, QE, PE, SRE).

This role has a direct line reporting to the QE Chapter Leader who will drive consistency and standards across the segments by providing technical guidance and direction. The QE Lead will be part of the Segment Leadership through a dotted line reporting.

What are we looking for? 

  • Over 7 years experience with strong technical skills, both functional and non-functional, manual and automation, ideally in a continuous delivery environment

  • Must have worked as people manager in previous roles

  • Capable of managing a team of 15 - 20 team members across multiple sites

  • Experience in the development of testing programs, test cases, test scripts, and their execution in medium to large scale development environments

  • Experience in the use of automated software-testing tools, testing methodologies, testing techniques and standards

  • Strong stakeholder management and must have worked in high paced environments

  • Comprehensive understanding of software development methodologies and recommended practices

  • Ability to implement and direct quality engineering processes and principles and maintain quality of delivery

  • Must have valid and unrestricted working rights in Australia.

What could set you apart?

  • Experience in cloud platform technologies (GCP/AWS)

  • Must have basic cloud certification (GCP/AWS/Azure)
