Data Steward / Data Quality Manager

The Data Steward is responsible for leading activities related to the management of Equifax data assets to support our business, including TDX.  Managing our data as a product, the Data Steward is responsible for maximising the quality of the data asset, ensuring the data is fully compliant with contracts, Equifax’s or external bodies agreed use of the data, Equifax’s data management lifecycle and any appropriate legislation.  The Data Steward will own and drive a continuous improvement programme to optimise the business value of our data, keeping abreast of industry and regulation. 

What you’ll do

  • Data Expertise - To drive business value of data and understand the lifecycle of the data asset(s) across all stages from ingestion to production. Be an ambassador for our data assets and encourage data awareness which can assist with new opportunities and points of synergy.  Keeping pace with regulatory and industry change, when required representing Equifax at 

  • Data Quality Management - Work across business functions to define, document and agree the data asset quality KPI’s, monitoring plans, controls, process flows and acceptance thresholds. Drive the development of quality reports that efficiently and reliably identify quality issues.

  • Data Quality Improvements - Work collaboratively across the business to build processes and allocate resources to lead the resolution of the data incidents partnering with Technology, Product and D&A teams prioritizing effort based on business and consumer impact.

  • Stakeholder Management - Build relationships with key stakeholders from across the business to ensure data is optimised, working with supplier manager to validate use cases for data for NPI initiatives, supporting UK business strategy while ensuring principles of least privilege and data compliance policies. 

  • Data Records Management - Ensure there are excellent levels of record management, working with key partners like Legal, Technology, Compliance and Procurement to ensure Data Governance processes for the data assets are managed i.e. Meta Data is defined and documented, with Data Asset inventory up to date. 

  • Continuous Improvement - Consider data as a product and seek ways to improve the business value of the data. Assist migration activities as we move our data sources into the cloud.  Design and run validation routines and work across different BU teams to coordinate and track project deliverables.

What experience you need 

  • Highest personal and professional integrity and strong work ethics

  • Knowledge of industry leading data usage principles and practices gained within a highly regulated business

  • Extensive experience in developing, planning and executing data management, and/or data governance improvement initiatives

  • Working at multiple levels in an organisation facilitating successful delivery of projects

  • Understand need to optimise commercial returns with compliance

  • Proven talent developer running high performance teams

  • A strong executor who is able to work with levels of uncertainty 

  • Collaborative and consultative style

  • Extensive relevant industry experience

  • Worked within an industry using CRA data and understands our business model and client needs

  • Brings experience from a variety of data businesses in the data industry

  • Deep understanding of data compliance regulations and rules

  • Able to convey confidence to external bodies; a strong communicator both verbally and written

  • Will look for new ways to approach challenges: a creative problem solver

  • A logical thinker with emotional intelligence and able to influence at all levels

  • Understands the bigger picture but can work at different levels; not afraid to roll their sleeves up
