What you’ll do 

We’re looking for a high-energy Legal Counsel to join our consistent Legal Team, providing risk aware counseling and assistance to the Equifax business in Australia. This is a hands-on role, with significant exposure to business stakeholders.

Legal services you will provide include: legal and advice on a variety of issues, in particular privacy (including credit reporting) and data, consumer and consumer credit law; drafting and negotiation of complex customer and supplier contracts, involvement in industry regulator and industry body interactions; and involvement in business and technology transformation projects.

What experience you need 

  • Tertiary qualified with undergraduate law degree and holding a current practicing certificates

  • Commercial lawyer with at least 2 years’ post admission experience

  • A passion for Privacy/data law

  • Proven commercial contract drafting, review and negotiation skills

  • Ability to explain legal concepts in a commercial clear and practical way

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Capacity to assume responsibility and work independently, while collaboratively working as part of a team.

  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with senior management

 

 What could set you apart

  • Prior in house experience

  • Experience in a technology/data related environment

  • Consumer credit law experience
