Legal Counsel, Commercial

What you’ll do 

As a Legal Counsel you will provide advice and assistance to the Equifax data, analytics and technology business in Australia. This is a hands-on role, with significant exposure to business stakeholders across multiple business units, with a focus on the Equifax HR Solutions business. Legal services you will provide include: drafting and negotiation of complex customer and supplier contracts, and legal and risk management advice on a variety of legal issues affecting the business, in particular privacy, data and consumer law; to assist the business in navigating a complex and evolving regulatory landscape; and involvement in business and technology transformation projects.

What experience do you need?  

  • Tertiary qualified with undergraduate law degree & hold a current practicing certificate

  • A commercial lawyer with 3 to 5 years post qualification experience

  • Privacy/data law experience

  • Proven commercial contract drafting, review and negotiation skills

  • Reputable law firm experience is preferable

  • Ability to explain legal concepts in a commercial context

  • Demonstrated track record of rapid provision of concise, solutions-based legal advice

  • Commercially astute and customer-focused with good practical business judgement
