The Data Observability Platform - Engineering Manager is a role that works in close proximity with other internal data platforms and data engineering team members. A good match would be someone who has strong experience in creating and/or developing data monitoring frameworks focused on Data Quality, Data Lineage, Data freshness and/or policies in Catalog. Better quality data means better decision making, standing up a capability center and ensuring best practices and resolution/remediation plans bringing specific data quality / data observability utilization experience is key. Your work will establish this next generation platform for data observability across the entire value chain of Equifax.
What you’ll do

Manage internal data sources: identify and prioritize data & sources based on unique business needs across the organization; develop and maintain catalog of all existing data sources across the enterprise.

Develop and manage business relationships with leaders across the organization, utilizing excellent verbal and written communication.

Determine project requirements and develop work schedules for internal teams.

Liaise with team members, management, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard.

Identify risks and form contingency plans as soon as possible.

Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and developments.

Motivate engineers and create a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns.

Be transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes.

Understand the Business ask and have the ability to design and build software components.

Understand the Operations feasibility of the solution and enable optimal instrumentation for solutions that are built.

Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.

Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
What experience you need
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field.
-
7+ years of professional software development experience in Java or Python or Golang.
-
3+ years of experience serving as technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle, from conception, architecture definition, detailed design, scoping, planning, implementation, testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance.

5+ years of experience in development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications.

5+ years of system design and application architecture.

Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills coupled with strong leadership and organizational abilities.
What could set you apart

Experience working with the Google Cloud Platform and/or GCP certifications.

3+ years of experience in building Data Quality and/or Data Monitoring Platforms using open sources such as Great Expectations, Soda Core or Open Telemetry.
