Lead Product Owner

Equifax is where you can power your possible. If you want to achieve your true potential, chart new paths, develop new skills, collaborate with bright minds,  and make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you.

Perhaps you started your career on the product side and developed technical skills, or you started as a technical resource and you have a knack for the product side of the business. Do you possess the necessary technical product knowledge to drive strategic conversations about the product and enhance value to Equifax and its customers? If so, Equifax is looking for you!

Equifax is seeking a Lead Product Owner who is a master at bridging the desires of the customer and the capabilities of the technology, removing barriers to software development.  You will be responsible for a large portion of a critical Equifax platform, overseeing the backlog grooming, requirement writing, releases and support for multiple products.

This Lead Product Owner role will own the technologies that enable regulated services for consumers, such as accessing a credit report or disputing wrongful credit report information.  Our scrum teams have technical architects and savvy developers to handle the most technical details of our projects, however this role must also be willing to roll up his/her sleeves, and understand all the API microservices, database tables and cloud technologies to be successful.  Having a technical background will be strongly preferred; the ideal candidate will be technical in nature, yet also highly skilled in communicating with stakeholders and forming strong business relationships with them.

This is an individual contributor role, but a senior role, which may over time change into a management role with Product Owners and Business Analysts reporting to you.

What You’ll Do

  • You will own the technologies driving all the regulated services from end-to-end.

  • You will oversee the team’s request portal, helping Product Owners make prioritization decisions among a continuous stream of new stakeholder requests

  • You will work with stakeholders to create business cases, including cost estimates for proposed new software solutions

  • You will write Epics, help other Product Owners with User Stories, and guide multiple scrum teams throughout their sprints.

  • You will be heavily involved in the release process, such as communicating updates with stakeholders, final testing and signoff

  • You will be accountable for roadmaps of multiple products, and ensure that the team is in constant communications with stakeholders for delivery updates on their projects

  • You will be a key point of contact for product support and information

What experience you need

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Business, or equivalent job experience required

  • 5+ years’ in experience managing product backlogs and requirements for Agile delivery teams in a Product Owner capacity, including extensive user story definition work

  • 5+ years of experience working with large development teams with multiple scrum teams and development interdependencies

  • 5+ years of experience building roadmaps and working in requirements management systems such as Aha and/or Jira

  • 5+ years of experience working in a technical environment, being comfortable with APIs, databases and cloud technologies

  • 5+ years of experience working closely with customers and stakeholders, building relationships, and understanding their business objectives while managing expectations

  • 2+ years of experience managing a team, preferably managing Product Owners

What could set you apart

  • Experience in the design or testing of APIs

  • Experience in writing more technical user stories

  • Experience with GCP / Firestore cloud technologies

  • Experience working in fintech or any financial institution
