Data Acquisition Manager - Consumer

Synopsis of the role


The Consumer Data Acquisition Manager is responsible for growing the Equifax Canada Consumer

database by securing new data contributors and identifying third party data providers to supplement our data asset. This role is critical to the realization of the Consumer data strategy and will be a key contributor to the success of our Consumer business.  Success for the role will be measured by the increase in monetizable data for consumer products, opportunities to integrate with other data sources to deliver alternative data solutions, and increase in search logic match rates and total breadth of information available. You will work on Continual improvement in our data assets focuses on supporting underserved consumer segments and provide more access to credit for many Canadians and work closely with Sales to identify potential customers not currently contributing data to Equifax and support discussions to secure their participation

What You’ll Do 

  • The Data Acquisition Manager will also be expected to continually research the market to identify new data sources that may complement our existing data assets and manage discussions to quantify the potential impact of the new information. 

  • You will also work with Product and Partnerships to build relationships with the potential data vendors and create a business arrangement to secure access to the data.  In cases that require data to be purchased, the Manager will be responsible for managing and paying associated invoices.

  • Collaborate with the Product Managers to understand emerging data needs and set priorities for acquisition targets given upcoming product development and Work closely with Data Operations to understand any data ingestion requirements and be able to articulate data layouts to potential contributors

  • Collaborate with IT to develop potential API connections to new data sources or design specific data exchanges to attain new data sources and Participate in Consumer Line of Business strategy discussions to understand priorities and understand future data needs

  • Contact potential data contributors to secure their participation

  • Drive pipeline development, resources and execution for data acquisition and onboarding policies and procedures.

  • Manage customer relationships, to ensure contractual service and data reciprocity requirements are met, and to ensurethe continuity of supply of core data and data services.

  • Lead the testing, evaluating, and analyzing efforts for new data sources.

  • Interpret contracts and data governance.

  • Manage multiple external vendors.

What Experience You Need:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics (essential)

  • 3+ years developing monetizing data assets leveraging traditional product management methodologies

  • Self-starter with strong research skills to identify new data sources and Working knowledge of database architecture and data management principles

  • Knowledge of the Canadian marketplace with understanding of emerging data sources

What could set you apart

  • Master’s level degree in a business-related field/MBA (preferred)

  • Creativity, drive and the ability to identify efficiencies and opportunities. The ability to collaborate with multiple teams and get teams to work together.
