As a Software Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for leading a small team of engineers that build and maintain applications in support of our scraping efforts to collect publicly available data. You will be responsible for supporting multiple core applications and sunsetting legacy applications.  You will partner with other cross-functional teams such as I.T. System Services along with near-shore and off-shore contractors.

What you’ll do

  • Manage a team of engineers that build and maintain applications used to support our  sunset legacy scraping platforms

  • Utilizes agile principles and framework

  • Identify and close security gaps in core applications 

  • Modernize core apps by leveraging cloud-based services 

  • Automate repetitive manual tasks and processes 

  • Generate OKRs based on department and business OKRs and ensure progress towards those goals 

  • Generate and share reports on progress 

  • Find and resolve inefficiencies that hinder engineer output 

  • Obtain time estimates and ETAs from direct reports and monitor timeline.

What experience you need  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

  • 7+ years managing a small team of software engineers

  • 7+ years prior software engineering experience 

  • 3+ years experience with Python/Java or any other programming languages.

  • Strong experience with integrations/APIs .

What could set you apart

  • 7+ years of successful work experience in large online transactional business

  • 5+ years experience and proficiency in software architecture, design and development methodologies

  • Agile development experience. 

  • Cloud migration and managing cloud solution platforms. 

  • Experience specifically with Cloud, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is preferable
