Job Description

Insights, An Equifax Company is looking for an expert Postgres DBE that can help advance EWS Insights, the nation’s most comprehensive source of person-based incarceration, justice, and risk intelligence data. We enable government agencies and commercial enterprises to save lives, fight crime, prevent fraud, and manage risk. This position is on the Insights data management team which is responsible for ensuring the highest possible quality standards are met across the disparate data sets we build and maintain. Designing databases and solutions that allow our internal and external customers to get the most out of our data is of the utmost importance and this position is ultimately responsible for those obligations. 

DBE will be actively involved in the evaluation, review, and management of databases. The individual will lead a team who supports a range of Applications and databases. The individual should be well versed in database administration and engineering which includes design, installation, performance tuning and troubleshooting. A strong candidate will be able to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure, implement solutions that are scalable, while managing multiple customer groups. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Design new databases

  • Redesign existing databases to improve performance and efficiency

  • Assess database management solutions against standards and best practices

  • Migrate commercial databases to open source databases

  • Develop, manage and test backup and recovery plans including disaster recovery and business continuity plans

  • Capacity planning

  • Monitor procedures to ensure storage, archiving, backup and recovery are working as expected

  • Work across functional teams to ensure databases will satisfy key stakeholders’ requirements

  • Create and maintain policies and procedures for administration of database environment

  • Evaluate team skill sets and identifying areas of improvement

  • Develop plans for team training at both individual and team level

  • Perform ongoing team evaluations

  • Collaborate with leadership on goals and develop and review ongoing KPI with DBE team

  • Develop, maintain and participate in on call rotation schedule

What experience you need

  • BS or Associate's Degree/Technical Certification or equivalent job experience required

  • 7+ years’ experience as an Oracle/SQL/Postgres/MySQL production and development DBA in a 24*7 environment

  • 1+ years of experience with SQL and PL/SQL scripting and tuning

  • 1+ years of experience with Linux (and Windows) required including Shell Scripting.

  • 1+ years of experience with DB Tools/Utilities (e.g., Toad, Enterprise Manager, SQL Developer, RMAN, EXPDP etc.)

  • Ability to speak to technical groups about designs and implementation

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure

  • Strong ability to prepare and present technical documentation

  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner when interacting across staff levels and internal/external customers
