Software Engineer - Career

The Software Engineer in this position will be responsible for researching and evaluating new technologies and guiding the technical efforts of the team to leverage them as they apply to solving our business unit objectives. The Lead will be responsible for ensuring that the best technical approach and practices are applied in all phases of the application lifecycle as it pertains to these newer technologies as well.  This person will leverage rapid prototyping techniques to try and demonstrate these new technologies to both the business and technical teams. 

What you’ll do

Research & Development

  • Understand emerging technologies. Present and recommend technologies to address business needs, scalability, performance, technical debt, etc. Prototype newer technologies in a sandbox environment

Application Development

  • Perform application technical design. Write efficient and maintainable code. Responsible for maintaining codebase quality of the project including but not limited to performing code reviews of other developer’s work.

  • Identify ‘Out of Scope’ issues and assist Project Managers in securing contract amendments before continuing work on such issues. Be responsible for the functional integrity and proper operation of all assigned systems. Collaborate with programmers and Product Development Team in the design of all assigned systems; maintaining Equifax design and development standards

  • Keep technical skills and knowledge of Equifax technologies and service offerings current . Assist with determination of project time and resource requirements

Oversight of Application Quality

  • Lead the team to integrate test driven development and automated quality assurance testing. Work within an Agile team to provide technical direction. Perform code reviews

Technical Guidance/Support for team members

  • Provide technical training and/or mentorship to development staff. Act as a resource for technical questions. Act as a technical representative of team to other business units. Professionalism

  • Thorough technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation . Excellent analytical and design skills at multiple product level, excellent skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation 

  • Maintain the highest level of integrity, courtesy, respect, and professionalism while interacting with, project team members, Equifax employees, and business contacts

What experience you need

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, software engineering or computer science or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of technical experience in software design and product support 

  • 1+ years of experience in Cloud services is preferred, Google Cloud Platform is desirable

What could set you apart

  • Intermediate to advanced level of experience in utilizing Agile Scrum or Kanban for software development

  • Perform application technical design

  • Write efficient and maintainable code

  • Experience with SQL, Python, Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Tableau or other business intelligence tools

  • Experience with streaming frameworks, e.g. Flink, Spark Streaming, Kafka

  • Experience with REST API services using Java

  • Experience with deploying high availability, high performance, multi-regional, multi-data center cloud  applications

  • Experience with developing for Linux environments

  • Experience working in an agile environment
