Head of Data Science

As Head of Data Science you will build, maintain and develop scalable models that will be implemented into our debt recovery strategies for public and private sector clients which will affect the experience millions of consumers and businesses have each and every day. Through the creation of standardised data assets from our internal environments and adoption of new data assets from both internal and external sources you will constantly raise the bar and deliver improvements through your solutions that are both elegant, effective and support our corporate partners.

What you’ll do

  • Own all data science solutions and develop them towards a framework that you will constantly evolve and improve

  • Define and implement a standardised set of data builds and effective metrics

  • Evaluate new and existing data assets that could improve your solutions

  • Prioritise the change backlog for maximum effectiveness

  • Ensure your data science solutions are scalable and easy to implement in to existing tooling

  • Produce oversight and governance for your model building process/output

  • Broaden our integration with our parent company (EFX) through increased use of the data, products, tools and services they provide

  • Self-start the implementation of a Data Science culture that is desirable in the market and helps you to build an effective and high performing team

What experience you need

  • Degree level qualification in a mathematical subject 

  • Strong numeracy skills with proven attention to detail

  • Strong  hands on and strategic experience of Data Science principles and practices

  • Intermediate experience with database environments, data set manipulation and programming languages (particularly in SQL, R, Python or similar)

  • Good experience operating independently, derive elegant and scalable solutions that are easy to implement and deliver demonstrable results

  • Good experience providing thought leadership of the forward development of your respective field

What could set you apart

  • Knowledge of the use of data in a regulated environment

  • Experience managing a team

  • Experience of system migration
